From Family Milestones to a Lasting Legacy

For Alex Kendall, the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County have always been more than a place to visit; they have been a place to mark life’s most meaningful moments.
Alex and his family first connected with the Museums in 2014, drawn by a shared love of science, nature, history, and discovery. The Natural History Museum became a special place for the family when they held one of their child’s early birthday celebrations there. This event transformed a regular visit into something much more meaningful. The Kendall family felt a sense of belonging and saw the Museum as a place where curiosity, joy, and learning can connect across generations.
Reflecting on his connection to NHM, Alex shares,
“The Museum has been a place where our family has learned, celebrated, and felt inspired together. Being able to support an institution that makes science and discovery accessible to everyone, and especially to families, means a great deal to me.”
In 2015 Alex became a Fellow, joining a group of museum supporters who are passionate about our mission. He recognized that the Museum plays an important role as a public institution focused on research, education, and community access. Inspired by this experience, Alex later joined the Board of Trustees to help guide NHMLAC’s vision and ensure its long-term sustainability.
Today Alex’s commitment extends even further through his decision to include the Museum in his estate plan as a member of The Hildegarde Howard Society. By planning for tomorrow, Alex is ensuring that future generations will experience the same sense of wonder, discovery, and connection that first brought his family through the Museums’ doors.
Philanthropy often starts with shared experiences. Happy moments with family and friends can lead to a lasting impact. Through his leadership and generosity, Alex Kendall is helping ensure that NHMLAC continues to thrive as a resource for all of Los Angeles and the world—through our research, exhibits, and unique education and public programs.
